Arkansas Aerospace Alliance Focused On Workforce Training, Incentives

Arkansas is known as being a large exporter of farm-raised goods, such as rice and soybeans. But another export in Arkansas could be getting a push for incentives during the next legislative session in hopes that it will help expand the industry and make Arkansas competitive with surrounding states.

According to Chad Causey, executive director of the Arkansas Aerospace Alliance, the industry is among the largest exporters in the state and it is responsible for thousands of jobs.

“Companies employ about 9,000 in the industry” in Arkansas, he said.

Major duties and responsibilities:
-Performs changes and retrofits on customer’s equipment in conjunction with routine maintenance.
-Diagnoses most equipment problems using appropriate tools, test equipment, and documentation.
-Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
-Accurate / timely return of repair paperwork and parts kits.
-Performs work duties in accordance with accepted safety procedures, and corporate policies.
-Adheres to established ESD guidelines, repair procedures, and associated safety standards.
 
Requirements:
Experience Level - 0 - 3 Years Electronics technician/radio MFG or SIC. Apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge, usually under the direction of engineering staff, to design, build, repair, calibrate, and modify electrical components, circuitry, controls, and machinery for subsequent evaluation and use by engineering staff in making engineering design decisions. Final training as electronics technician or communications technician or similiar. Experience with control panel construction, construction of mobile radio or similar. May require an Associate's degree or technical school certification. Good MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Explorer etc.). Ability to work accurately, to be adept in technology. To have experience with elements of mobile radio technology. Team oriented, fast learner.

Dassault foresees 40% output rise

End-of-2015 expansion in LR to translate into more jobs

Dassault Falcon Jet Corp. expects to increase its output by 40 percent after a $65 million expansion at its Little Rock completions center is finished by the end of 2015, Robert Smith, senior vice president of business development, said Wednesday.

Smith declined to say how many people will be hired after the expansion. He said the company’s total employment now is between 1,800 and 1,900. “We’re going to hire people.I’m not going to say how many,” Smith said.
